I’ve been painting since my early teens, but only recently taken the plunge and gone freelance. In April 2015 I opened a studio/shop at Hanbury Road Craft Centre which I share with a friend. I mostly paint in watercolours, acrylics, gouache and occasionally oils. I also enjoy using aquarelle (watercolour) pencils and ink. I find watercolour is a great medium and well-suited to capturing the transient light and colour of the English countryside. I often use pen and wash, especially if I am doing pictures of buildings or to give the image an extra ‘uumph’ !
Sometimes I add other items to paintings, such as petals and leaves. Salt and sand also add an interesting dimension. More recently I have started painting semi-abstract pictures and I am currently undertaking a series of paintings commenting on the current political landscape.
