From time to time Droitwich Arts Network takes the lead on projects. The most recent was the restoration of the ceramic town mural. That project was led by Alan Davey.
The ceramic mural “Buildings of Droitwich”
Thanks to funding from the National Lottery, Wychavon District Council, and Droitwich Town Council, Droitwich Arts Network restored Droitwich Spa’s national treasure. This colourful and intricate work of art had been removed from the St Andrew’s shopping centre wall in order to replace broken ceramic relief’s and to strengthen the panels. The ‘Black Dog’ Studio where the mural was originally made 43 years ago by artist Philippa Threlfall completed the repairs.
The unveiling ceremony took place on Wednesday 17th April. It was unveiled by the Mayor of Droitwich, and DAN Chairman Helen Karakashian said a few words. Click any image to enlarge.
